Starting from the refuge there are quite a few possibilities for excursions in and around the Catinaccio mountain group, to admire these fantastic peaks and to know this unique characteristic area.
In the follow are reported the most interesting ones, with description of the difference in altitude, duration and recommended direction. Of course, these routes can be walked in the opposite direction, too.

		•  "Vajolon" excursion – short tour, app. 3 hours Start from the refuge taking the way n. 541 and than the way n. 551 until reaching the Vajolon Pass (2560 m) in app. 1.30 hours. Follow the way down crossing the boulders below the impressive rock face of the “Roda di Vael” until reach the way n. 549 “Majare Way”. Walk for app. 1 hour in direction monument (large bronze eagle) dedicated to Theodor Christomannos. Go on for app. 30 minutes on a comfortable way to reach the refuge.
		•  "Cigolade" excursion – short tour, app. 3 hours Start from the refuge and take the way n. 541 passing by the steep roofing rock faces of the “Mugoni” and reaching in app. 1.15 hours the Cigolade Pass (2579 m). Go on taking the “Vial delle Feide” way (sheep way) and go round the “Pale Rabbiose” passing the “ Soffion Pass ”. A comfortable panorama way leads back to the refuge in app. 30 minutes.
		•  "Gardeccia/Ciampedie" excursion – mediocre tour, app. 4 hours Start from the refuge and take the way n. 541 passing by the steep roofing rock faces of the “Mugoni” and reaching in app. 1.15 hours the Cigolade Pass (2579 m). Follow the way n. 541 until cross the way n. 550 and than descend to the refuge “Gardeccia” in app. 1.15 hours. A comfortable way (n. 540) passes trough the forests until reaching „Ciampedie“ in 45 minutes. Go on taking the high Fassa way and return to the refuge along the path n. 545 (total duration app. 4 hours). Before the arrival to the refuge there is a possibility to lengthen the excursion for 15 minutes and to have a brake in the “Malga Vael” for tasting local butter and cheeses.
		•  "Coronelle" excursion – extended tour, app. 6 hours Start from the refuge and take the way n. 541 passing by the steep roofing rock faces of the “Mugoni” and reaching in app. 1.15 hours the Cigolade Pass (2579 m). Follow the way n. 541 until cross the way n. 550 and than follow this one for app. 2 hours up to the Coronelle Pass (2630 m). Go on walking on a comfortable way marked by characteristic works of art and woodcarvings, down to the refuge “A. Fronza alle Coronelle” (app. 45 minutes). Here starts the way n. 549 “Majare way” leading along the impressive Roda di Vael face, representing a stage of the historical climbing enterprises, and going back to the refuge in app. 2 hours.
		•  "Catinaccio mountain group" excursion – difficult and very extended tour, app. 7.30 hours Start from the refuge and take the way n. 549 “Majare way” for reach in app. 2 hours the refuge “A.Fronza alle Coronelle”. Here starts the metallic fixed rope trail crossing the “Catinaccio” mountain group along the east face and reaching in app. 2 hours the refuge “ Santner Pass ”. Descend to the refuge “Re Alberto” on the base of the Vajolet Towers , an ambitious object for international climbers, and on, to the refuge “Vajolet” in app. 1 hour. Go on passing by the base of the impressive “Catinaccio” face, with an international alpine history, and get over the Cigolade Pass (2579 m) returning in app. 2.30 hours to the refuge “Roda di Vael”.
